Retired from my own business. I am a Mechanical Engineer by training but like so many others I migrated to the world of software where I designed and implemented systems for a wide range of purposes including mechanical product systems, magazine publication strategy, custom accounting systems and more recently satellite data analysis (finding gold from space).

My 'pastime' programming language is J which I use for photographic image manipulation, and analyzing our Community sewage system among other eclectic occupations. (Hands-up anybody .. anybody that knows what J is!)

A one year plus convert to Ubuntu from the world of MS. (I hate to admit that I do dual boot ... it's my very insecure 'security blanket'.

I have been working to get an XO box to do something that will make it worth while lugging it around. After a try with Ubuntu that was not fun I am now about to give Fedora10 a try.

Photography is my passion and I travel extensively. More than a little disappointed by the lack of Linux photographic software solutions and I would like to work with others and share information and experience in this field.
