IS Support Specialist- Systems Operations
Scope Of the Position: This position entails assisting and maintaining, updating and distributing information to our global data centers in a dynamic Helpdesk environment. The ideal candidates will analyze systems and processes looking for improvements and work within the teams and policies to implement change. The ability to work during and outside of core business hours required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide same day support for customers and 180+ data centers worldwide - Perform triage and root cause analysis of issues affecting our systems - Liaison between branch operations, product owners and development - Format and load data spreadsheets - Maintain and distribute system helpfiles - Distribute updates to our branches worldwide - Identify and log new bugs - Process Improvement - Document new and existing procedures in document libraries - Contribute to the development of the team through cross-training - Create and update client/branch reports

BitPusher manages web servers, networks and other IT infrastructure, both owned by BitPusher and hosted elsewhere. We build long-term relationships with our customers and take the time to understand their applications, their technical needs and their business needs. We customize things as required to meet those needs, but we also keep things as standard as we can for reasons that we're sure you already understand.
What you'll do at BitPusher:
- Work with customers on designing, building, and migration of production services as well as ongoing management and support
- Be a hands-on engineer for BitPusher's infrastructure, including networking, imaging and provisioning environment, and administrative/operations automation tools
- Play an active role in coming up with better ways to administer large numbers of systems supporting diverse applications, by improving both technical practices and processes
- Help take our application hosting techniques to the next level, both through incremental improvements and new platform design
- 'Own' the customer relationship ensuring Bitpusher is a valued partner to our customers
- Participate in our on-call rotation
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Eight years of production systems administration/engineering experience in a Linux/UNIX environment, including at least four years in web operations
- Strong understanding of technologies such as load balancing and caching
- Experience with performance analysis and tuning for web-based applications
- Expert-level knowledge of monitoring systems and configuration management systems (Puppet, Chef, Nagios, Munin, etc...)
- Experience with virtualization using commodity hardware
- Strong scripting ability in Bash, Ruby, Perl and/or Python
- Ability to successfully work with multiple remote customers
- Strong personal and professional initiative with a focus on the success of the team and organization
Sr. DevOps Systems Engineer (Linux)

- Lead efforts to design, refine, improve, and maintain a robust configuration management solution (based on puppet)

- Be a hands-on engineer for BitPusher's infrastructure, including networking, imaging and provisioning environment, and administrative/operations automation tools
- Play an leading role in coming up with better ways to administer large numbers of systems on diverse networks supporting diverse applications, by improving technical practices, solutions, and processes

- Serve as an internal resource for our customer facing systems engineers in order to automate solutions to problems
- Work on other related special projects that focus on: tools architecture, systems automation, configuration management, and environment scalability
Requirements and Qualifications:

Looking for a Sr. Linux Admin. at OpenMarket in Seattle
OpenMarket is looking for a Sr. Linux Administrator for our downtown Seattle office (two blocks north of Pike Place Market). Ideally, someone with a CentOS or RHEL background.
On-call rotates weekly, starting on Friday mornings. While it's 24/7 during that time, in practice, the whole team handles issues during the business day. Most people use individual work-provided phones to receive alerts, though sending them to a personal phone is an option. Alert frequency is currently around one a day or so, but widely variable with serious issues much more rare. Our SA's are paid an additional amount to be on-call.
While we don't have any required travel, it is not uncommon for members of the team to visit other sites once or twice a year. Travel for datacenter work not very likely.
